Traditional Research Paper
For this project we were assigned an author of our choice. We decided to look up an author and see what we could find. Luckily, J. K. Rowling was the first to pop up. Then, we are to research about the author and choose artifacts to make our website. The website is supposed to reflect J. K. Rowling.
J. K. Rowling, known as Joannne Rowling, was born in July 1965. Born at Yate General Hospital. She grew up in Chepstow, Gwent where she went to Wyedean Comprehensive. According to jkrowling.com, Rowling left Chepstow for Exeter University, where she earned a French and Classics degree. As a postgraduate, she moved to London and worked as a researcher at Amnesty International among other jobs. She started writing the Harry Potter series on a delayed train ride to London's King's Cross.
The Harry Potter series became a hit sensation as soon as the first was published. According to harrypotter.com, the first Harry Potter book published was "The Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." That book was published in 1997. Soon after being published, the book then was translated into different languages.
Rowling said, "I wrote nearly every evening, then typed the whole thing out myself on an old manual typewriter, covered the first three chapters in a nice plastic folder and sent them off to an agent. They were returned so fast, they must have been sent back the same day they arrived. But at the second attempt, Christopher Little wrote back asking to see the rest of the manuscript. It was far and away the best letter I had ever recieved in my life. -and it was only two sentences long." At this time she was looking for an agent.
According to jkrowling.com, Rowling knew that she wanted to be a writer from an early age. She wrote her first book at 6 years old and now she has multiple books out there. That is why we introduced this website to everyone, so people could see her excellent work and a piece of her life, as well.
